As the year progressed, we realized we needed to refine our vocabulary regarding Adbongo’s purpose. We realized that neither “marketing & advertising agency” nor “business development firm” accurately describe what we do. After contemplation and team brainstorming, we decided “cause business incubator” is the best way to communicate who we are to the world. As far as we know, we are the world’s first cause business incubator. Essentially, this label describes the fact that we seek to nurture and grow causes, both non-profit and for-profit.
At the beginning of October, Adbongo’s John Bush tripped down south to tropical storm beleaguered Central America to finalize office plans with celebrity architect and earthship inventor, Michael Reynolds.
Earthships are zero-carbon, food-producing, rainwater-catching and-cleaning, off-the-grid (solar and wind energy) buildings made out of recycled materials. Inventor Michael Reynolds, who created the term “biotecture” to describe architecture that works with living systems, has been fine-tuning his Earthship models for the past forty years. To date, he has built over 1,000 of them.
