Kimbriel Dean, Writer and Editor

Kimbriel Dean has worked as a freelancer on various Adbongo, Inc. projects since 2006. Currently, she conducts research and writes copy for Adbongo and all clients.

After receiving various academic awards including the NCTE writing award, McFadden Leadership scholarship, Presidential scholarship and two years on the Dean’s List, she earned honors accolades for her B.A. in Religious History with Business minor from Westmont College. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, where she conducted research for investigative hearings of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging and wrote newspaper columns for U.S. Senator John Breaux which were reproduced throughout his home state of Louisiana. Within eight months, she was promoted to the position of Policy Analyst under U.S. Senator Bob Graham, which gave her the opportunity to write speeches which were delivered on the floor of the Senate. In just under a year, she was promoted to Legislative Assistant for U.S. Congressman Joseph Hoeffel. This position required her to advise the Congressman regarding strategy, votes, speech & column writing, hearings and legislation sponsorship & drafting for health care, social, postal and education issues.

Background: Research and Writing, the Threads Which Connect All

Utilizing the knowledge she gained as a health care aide on Capitol Hill, Ms. Dean moved to the private sector, where she worked as a Medical Research Assistant for McGhan Medical Corporation, one of the world’s largest medical device manufacturing corporations. After serving in this position for some time, she found storytelling genres pulling her away from cut-and-dry technical writing about medical studies.

Therefore, she retired from the medical field and started writing fiction. In 2005, she participated in University of California, Los Angeles’ (UCLA’s) professional screenwriting program (non-degree program). She went on to write two original feature length screenplays and one feature adaptation. In 2010, Ms. Dean published her first novel, “The Apothecarys Song.”

Applying her varied past experiences in research and writing, Ms. Dean weds creative with corporate in her current role at Adbongo, Inc. where she composes blog posts, web content, press releases and newsletters. Additionally, because of her experience managing interns on Capitol Hill, she handles intern selection and management.
