Announcing Plans to build a net-zero Earthship

A few months ago, Adbongo announced plans to build an Earthship satellite office on our secret lair mountaintop property in Central America. Now, we’ve prepped the land, built the retaining wall, planted fruit trees (to add to the banana, coffee, jacote and papaya trees which were already there). It’s time to design and build.

Today, Adbongo climbed one step higher towards the goal. We scheduled Michael Reynolds- the world-renowned inventor of Earthships- to join us on an adventure down to Guatemala to design our building. At the end of September, John Bush, Michael Reynolds and  fabulously talented Papr will head south to Aldous Huxley’s “most beautiful lake in the world” to plot and plan. We are thrilled to be moving forward with this dream project. We express heartfelt gratitude to those who are helping to transform this vision into reality. Your support and your faith in what we’re doing are beyond appreciated.

“What in the world is she talking about? What are Earthships?”

Earthships are zero-carbon, food-producing, rainwater-catching and-cleaning, off-the-grid (solar and wind energy) buildings made out of recycled materials. Inventor Michael Reynolds, who created the term “biotecture” to describe architecture that works with living systems, has been fine-tuning his Earthship models for the past forty years. To date, he has built over 1,000 of them.

The Earthship Biotecture home base is in Taos, New Mexico, but Mr. Reynolds builds Earthships all over the world. Adbongo recognizes and honors Mr. Reynolds for the work he has done to build homes and train locals in Haiti following the mass destruction from the 2010 earthquake.
